The Imperial Armed Forces Manual Complied by Imperial Judicator Tathar deVir TABLE OF CONTENTS: Section 1 Command structure Section 2 Military Law Section 3 Enlistment and Promotions Section 4 Etiquette Section 5 Pay and Benefits The structure of the Imperial Armed Forces (Imperial Forces) will represent the civilian government for ease of administration and communication. The Imperial Armed Forces will comprise of two arms. These arms will be the Imperial Army and the Imperial Navy. The Commander of the Armed Forces may be of any two service branches, once promoted to the position the Commander is awarded the highest rank of Imperial Judicator. A rotational period of 6 months service shall be for all positions. If no candidates apply for any position then the incumbent will continue in that position for another term. The format will be as such: Supreme Commander and Commander-in-chief, Lord Rahkzan Imperial Armed Forces (Imperial Forces), Imperial Judicator Imperial Army (IA) Imperial Navy (IN) Imperial Captain First Sea Lord
The Imperial Army will have a dual command structure comprising of the War Council which plans and executes battle plans and the Quartermaster which controls the supply, maintenance and update of the Imperial Army. The Imperial Army ensures the political will and survival of the Empire. Imperial Army (IA) Imperial Captain (ICAP) War Council Quartermaster (KNCAP) (KNCAP) The Imperial Navy will have a dual command structure comprising of the Captains Council that plans the naval defence of the Empire. The Shipwrights Office supplies and maintains the integrity of the Imperial navy ships. The Imperial Navy ensures safety in Imperial waters and protection to Imperial Merchant Navy Ships in other nations territorial waters. Imperial Navy (IN) First Sea Lord (FSL) Captains Council Shipwrights Office (ADM) (ADM) Ranks within arm of Service:
Section 2: Military Law: The discipline of the Imperial Armed Forces is divided into Military Law and the trial and punishment of offenders. Any provincial militia placed under the command of the Imperial Armed Forces is subject to discipline and trial by the Imperial Army. Law
of the Soldier: 1.
The Pax Dicterum is the basis of all law in Tariana. Lord Rahkzan's will is the guiding light of Tariana his word
is law. 2.
Any member of the Imperial Armed Forces found guilty of breaking the Pax
Dicterum will be imprisoned and must face the Court of Honour for judgment and trial. 3.
Secondary to the Pax Dicterum is the lawful command of a superior.
Failure to fulfil this will result in disciplinary action from within the
service the subordinate is located. 4.
Any order deemed by the subordinate to be unlawful will be the subject of
an inquiry by the Court of Honour. A
superior found guilty of issuing an unlawful order shall be stripped of rank and
punished accordingly. If the charge
is unfounded the subordinate will be punished accordingly. 5.
During a times or war or civil emergencies all orders are to be
considered lawful. 6.
All members of the Imperial Armed Forces shall follow the Laws of the
Soldier. They are as follows: a.
The killing of civilians is unlawful, b.
Captured officers are to be given the respect according to their rank, c.
The looting of enemy and allied dead is not to be conducted.
Unless supplies obtained are absolutely necessary, d.
The taking of civilian goods shall only be done in times of need, e.
Neutral cities and persons are not to be attacked, f.
Spies found in allied territory, in disguise are to be tried and hung, g.
All members of the Imperial Forces are to conduct themselves with honor
and dignity. 7.
The rules of war must be followed at all times, unless they contradict
the Pax Dicterum or the expressed commands of the commander-in-chief. Court of Honour The court of Honour is presided over by the Imperial
Captain, of if unavailable the highest ranking member of the Imperial Armed
Forces not below the rank of Knight Captain.
If no officer is available the defendant is to be kept under guard and
transported back to Adokon for trial. The
presiding judge for the court of Honour identifies the charge and the punishment
to be given. The defendant then may plead guilty, if the defendant does
then he may get a reduced sentence if the judge thinks the crime was not
grievous. If the defendant pleads
not guilty then the judge will hear the evidence from both the defendant and the
prosecutor. The judges’ decision
is final. Crimes
and Standard Punishments :
Section 3: Enlistment and promotion This section deals with the selection of recruits, the training of them, then subsequent advancement. Selection –Imperial Army and Imperial Navy: Applications to join the Imperial Armed forces are to be supplied in writing. The Imperial Judicator and the relevant senior officer will examine all applications. Upon acceptance with successful recruit will be given the lowest rank of the relevant arms they have joined and will commence training at the Imperial headquarters. Training – Imperial Army and Imperial Navy: Training will include both practical and theoretical lessons. Training will take 2 months, 1 month for theory and 1 month for practical. The theory component will involve, but not exclusively, the explanation of various troops and ships within the Imperial Armed forces and allied forces, and explanation of their strengths/weaknesses, planning and execution of offensive and defensive plans. A trip to an allied nation to inspect there armed forces. At the end of the first month the recruit will be given a scenario in which the person must write a plan covering the scenario which will be reviewed by the senior staff. The practical component will put to use the theory that has been learnt. The recruits must show that they are competent in their operational handling of various troop types. The final test for this phase will be an live exercise using troops supplied to you to complete a specified mission. At the successful completion of both phases the recruit will be promoted to the next rank at a ceremony in Adokon presided over by the commander-in-chief. The enlisted officers will then be sent to an area depending upon his results. Promotions: After the cycle of 6 months has passed all officers have their postings reviewed and may be either promoted, moved within their rank or demoted, depending upon performance. The commander-in-chief conducts all reviews with the assistance of the Imperial Judicator. All officers must conduct themselves with honour and dignity as they represent their
commander-in-chief in deeds and words. An
officer received his rank through Lord Rahkzan and the power of the Empire.
Thus whenever a fellow officer of lower rank meets a higher-ranking
officer, the lower ranking officer must salute, to show his respect and loyalty
to Lord Rahkzan. Failure to do so
is an insult to Lord Rahkzan and the Empire.
The only exception to this rule is when an officer is inside the Imperial
headquarters in Adokon. Dress: When officers are at the Imperial court or an official function they must wear court dress. For the Imperial Army this entails mustard pants with a mustard shirt and jacket and mustard cap. Those of rank 2 or higher have mustard pants with a red stripe on the outer side of the leg. The court dress of the Imperial navy is blue pants with white shirt and blue jacket and blue cap. Those of rank 2 or higher have blue pants with a red stripe on the outer side of the leg. Military dress is that same as that of the officers respective unit, variances are allowed in a limited fashion. Oath of Service: The oath of service is to be said in the presence of the high priest of Sarith, Lord Rahkzan and the Imperial Judicator. ‘In the presence of Sarith I swear to serve loyally the Empire and Emperor, I swear to discharge my duty faithfully and with vengeance. I swear to do the Empires bidding without judgment and without faltering. In the presence of Sarith, Emperor and the Imperial Judicator I do swear this!’ Relationship between the Provincial militia and the Imperial Armed Forces Upon a state of war or a declaration of civil emergency by the Imperial government the provincial militia’s come under the auspices of the Imperial Army. The provincial Lord will be given the honorary position of KNCAP for the duration of the conflict. The Marshall’s of a province shall be given the honorary position of KNLT. The highest-ranking Imperial officer shall take charge of the defence of that province, if the provincial Lord is of a higher rank then the lord shall retain command. Once the Imperial Captain, Imperial Judicator or the Commander-in-chief arrives in the province then they shall assume command of all military and militia forces of that province. Section 5 : Pay and the Benefits of the Imperial Armed Forces Conditions of Service: All officers are required to carry out their duty to the Empire, however if circumstances stop this you must inform your superior as soon as possible. Failure to do so will result in your immediate dismissal and disciplinary action is required. Military parades occur in Adokon every month, all officers are required to attend to show our loyalty to the Empire and Lord Rahkzan. Pay:
(To be confirmed by the Table of Wolves and the Imperial government) Leave: All enlisted officers entitled to 2 months a year leave from military service. However all officers are required to inform their superior of their location and may be recalled at any time. Extra leave may be organized, however no payment will be made to you during this period. Benefits: Benefits to the Imperial Armed Forces include hospital treatment paid for by the Empire. When travel is required on military business the Empire will cover all charges. If death occurs while in combat or in a combat related incident then the Empire will provide a grant (6 months pay) to the officers’ family and heir. Senior officers are supplied housing in Adokon, junior officers are allowed to live in the Imperial Armed Forces compound or in their own housing. Once an officer has been posted out of Adokon appropriate accommodation will be provided at that place. |
